Now it’s your responsibility to make a positive impact on them and stand out from the crowd!

In order to achieve your goal, you will need to put your best foot forward! Here are a few tips on how to WOW your potential employer:

Research

Google the company, visit their website and learn about what they do, their business culture and history

LinkedIn

Be sure to check not only the company’s website but also their LinkedIn profile. More important, check the interviewer’s profile (if they have one – and they should!). That way you will get to know a little bit about the person before you meet them

Be enthusiastic

Employers are only interested in people that are interested in them. Display enthusiasm. With every reply, relay your ‘homework’ efforts and knowledge about the company

Be well groomed

It’s a good idea to try to find out what the company's dress code is. But a general rule of thumb would be that, however informal the work environment may be, you are still better off to be extremely well-groomed and well-presented in your first interview

Ask questions

Think of questions to ask the interviewer. A few samples of some good interview questions are (we encourage you to come up with your own questions):

• What are the most important challenges of this position that you would expect to be tackled in the first three months? Over the next twelve months?

• How will my performance be reviewed in this position over the first six months?

• Can you describe your immediate team culture and how it reflects the greater organisation?

• What were the main strengths of the last person employee in this position? What else are you looking for in the next person?

• What has been your major business unit achievement in the past twelve months? How has this role contributed to that?

• What are the next steps in your interview process?

Practice

Practice not only makes it perfect, but also boosts your confidence. You don’t need to go as far as writing a script. Just remember a few of the questions we’ve asked you and try to provide as much detail about your experience as possible but in a succinct and clear format
