Job Seekers > CV Tips
Throwing your CV into a black pit of applications can be a tiresome activity. So how do you get your CV noticed?
Beyond including the basics like your name, contact numbers and career profile, the easiest and quickest way to get your job application noticed is to add detail. No matter what your background is, adding detail will give context to your role, help recruiters understand the breadth and depth of your role, and establish the impact of your career achievements.
Some examples of measurable details are as follows:
| What your CV says now | What it should say |
| Recruited and managed staff | - Recruited, trained and managed X staff including X and X (what sort of roles?) - Be specific |
| Met and exceeded sales targets | - Exceeded sales targets of $XX revenue / week by X% over the last X months - Detail your contribution |
| Conducted sales presentations | - Developed and conducted sales presentations to Business Managers, Owners and CEOs - My decision makers included.... - I presented to individuals / large groups |
| Processed credit applications and entered onto database | - Processed X credit applications per day and entered on MS Access database quickly and accurately |
| Secretarial / PA experience | - How many people did you support? - Examples of work produced include... |
| Accounts Payable / Receivable | - Using what system or software? - Turnover of organisation? - Size of ledger |
Take 15 minutes to read through your CV, pencil in the numbers and details for each of your job responsibilities and have a go at re-writing your CV with the new information included.
